EDC seeks to boost aluminium exports
Dubai, March 30, 2009
Dubai Export Development Corporation (EDC) is augmenting export opportunities for Dubai’s aluminium products through its participation in the Aluminium Dubai 2009 (AD 2009) Exhibition.
AD 2009 is taking place from March 29 to 31 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance, said during the exhibition’s inauguration that EDC’s role is important in strengthening the export industry of the country.
EDC as a government body responsible for promoting exports from Dubai and the UAE will help foster potential businesses for the country’s aluminium sector in the global market.
Four UAE-based companies in the aluminium extrusion sector namely Emirates Extrusion Factory, Express Flexi Pack, Everlast Access Technologies and Al Najeh Trading Establishment, are exhibiting their latest developments and products at the EDC stand.
These companies are able to promote their products to international and local buyers as well as interact with key players in the industry.
“Dubai government realises the importance of diversifying sources of income and increasing the participation of the industrial and the export sectors in increasing the country’s GDP,” said Saed Al Awadi, chief executive officer, EDC.
“Our role as an established government institution is to ensure the development of as many opportunities for exports not only regionally but internationally,” he added.
“A well diversified economy is very important in strengthening the industrial sector and to help buffer our economy in short run with the current international financial crisis and in the long run support the Dubai strategic plan.”
AD 2009 serves as a platform for exhibitors to host live demonstrations of their products and the latest technologies such as the heat treatment techniques.
The exhibition also allows for outstanding business and networking opportunity for the region's aluminium industry with international visitors and key players in the industry. – TradeArabia News Service
