Dubai, January 19, 2009

Kanoo Shipping, the Middle East agents for Swire Shipping, have announced the commencement of Swire Shipping’s Middle East Service (MES) linking the US Gulf and US East Coast with Dammam and Jebel Ali in the Arabian Gulf.

The new MES service will be operated on a monthly frequency with two self geared 30,000 dwt multi-purpose, tween-deck vessels capable of handling heavy lift cargo of upto 200 mtons.

"We are happy to introduce Swire Shipping’s new MES service to our customers in the Gulf region," said John Drinkwater, shipping manager, UAE & Oman, Kanoo Shipping.

"With this new service Swire Shipping will offer direct port calls into/from the Arabian Gulf with two dedicated multi-purpose vessels which have heavy lift capabilities to service the growing project and breakbulk cargo segments in the region," he noted.

"We are confident this service will do well as it offers our customers connectivity and capacity for their cargo from/to North America and an export service to India," Drinkwater added.

The two modern multi-purpose vessels, the pacific dream and Pacific Destiny, are well equipped to handle and carry bulk, project, heavy lift and container cargoes.

The vessel’s rotation will be Houston (US Gulf) - Saint John (East Canada) - Camden (US East Coast) - Suez - Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) - Dammam (Saudi Arabia) - Jebel Ali (UAE) - Mumbai (India) - Houston (US Gulf) - Saint John (East Canada) - Camden (US East Coast).-TradeArabia News Service
