Agility Qatar, a unit of Kuwait's Agility, the Gulf's biggest logistics provider, will merge with Qatar's Gulf Warehousing Company, Gulf Warehousing said on Wednesday.

"The merger aims to create one of the biggest companies dealing in providing services of storage, transportation, handling, customs clearance and all other comprehensive logistics services to their existing and prospective customers," it said in a statement on the Doha bourse website.

The new company will be called GWC Agility and will hold a shareholders meeting to present the merger.

The meeting date has yet to be set, the statement said, without giving further details.

The merger comes soon after Qatar's government ordered a tie-up between Qatar Navigation Co and Qatar Shipping Co. Officials at both companies were not immediately available for comment. -Reuters
