Emirates Thermostone bags key UAE contracts

Dubai, September 22, 2008

Dubai-based Emirates Thermostone has won Dh9.4 million ($2.55 million) contract to supply autoclaved aerated concrete (ACC) construction materials for four major UAE projects.

It is a subsidiary of M’Sharie, the private equity arm of Dubai Investments.

AAC is a thermal and lightweight building block made from natural raw materials. Its economical, eco-friendly and lightweight characteristics have enhanced its international reputation as a preferred construction material for residential, commercial and industrial buildings, said a Emirates Thermostone official.

'The project wins includes a 5-star hotel in Abu Dhabi, mixed-use developments in Ras Al Khaimah and Al Nahda, and the Dubai Silicon Oasis project,' said Ajay Mathur, general manager of Emirates Thermostone.

“Since commencing commercial operations from May 2006, Emirates Thermostone has made rapid headway to establish itself as one of the premier manufacturers and suppliers of AAC in the UAE,'

'These latest contracts confirm our strong market position and underscore the trust and stature we have built within the construction industry,' he remarked.

The award of contracts coincides with the increase in demand for AAC within the Gulf region, and especially in the UAE, where AAC has come to be an essential material in the construction of new building projects due to its superior thermal insulation efficiency, easy workability and cost-effectiveness.

'There is now greater awareness within the construction sector about the competitive and cost advantages that AAC offers, and as a result, several leading developers/contractors who hitherto used to rely on conventional blocks and panels have now been opting for AAC,' Mathur noted.

Emirates Thermostone has been making significant technological investments to provide customers with superior quality blocks characterized by sharp and precise edges.

This allows the customer to order larger size of blocks which will result in significant cost and time savings, while simultaneously offering greater flexibility in block dimensions based on customized requirements.

“Demand for AAC has also been boosted by the UAE government’s strong emphasis on eco-friendly construction practices, as AAC is known to minimise the environmental impact,” he added.-TradeArabia News Service
