Aramex scoops up Scata awards

Dubai, June 4, 2008

Aramex was recognised by the supply chain industry for its outstanding achievements in third party logistics (3PL) and corporate social responsibility (SCR), as it scooped up trophies at the annual Supply Chain and Transport Awards (Scata).

The win is a testament to Aramex’s world-class 3PL capabilities, which include value-added supply chain management, storage and distribution solutions customized to the needs of a wide-range of industries, said a company official.

Capitalizing on regional outsourcing trends, third-party logistics are a key component of Aramex’s overall regional growth strategy, with its Jebel Ali facility acting as a dynamic hub for the various markets it serves across the GCC.

“A number of companies in the fashion, IT, retail, and telecom sectors have opted to outsource their logistics operations to Aramex for industry-specific solutions and the expertise and efficiency provided by our world-class logistics center,” said Iyad Kamal, chief logistics officer at Aramex.

At the gala ceremony, Aramex was also recognised for its leadership position in the area of social and environmental sustainability, collecting the CSR award for acting as a role model for good corporate citizenship across the region.

A major advocate of corporate sustainability, Aramex was the first company in the region to issue a sustainability report and is on track to becoming the first carbon neutral logistics provider in the world.

“At Aramex, we believe that the investment in the communities around us is just as important as the work we do on the ground every day, and we are constantly looking at ways in which we can strengthen our contribution,” said Raji Hattar, chief sustainability officer, Aramex.-TradeArabia News Service
