Ducab, Electrocab Emarat in deal

Dubai, April 22, 2008

Ducab has entered into a strategic partnership with Emirates International Investment Company (EIIC)-owned Electrocab Emarat.

As part of the agreement, Ducab will take ownership of the new Musaffah Abu Dhabi cable factory of Electrocab Emarat, the company said in a statement.

Electrocab Emarat was planning to manufacture a wide range of electrical power cables at the new factory located in the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi (ICAD), 30 km from Abu Dhabi City.

The factory will now be operated by Ducab and is equipped with the latest generation manufacturing and testing facilities.

The product range includes low, medium, high and extra high voltage cables, control and instrumentation cables (including lead sheathed), building wires, flexible, THHN/THWN cables and fire performance cables.

As part of the alliance, Electrocab Emarat and Ducab will explore participation in joint venture opportunities for the development of cable projects in the Middle East and North Africa region (excluding the UAE).

Ducab has an ambitious investment plan as part of its 2015 Growth Strategy to expand into markets beyond the GCC, the company said.

“Ducab is determined to maintain its position as the premier cable manufacturer in the region and this partnership with EIIC will accelerate the company’s growth both in the UAE and MENA. We are delighted to have partnered with such strong companies as EIIC and Electrocab and we are looking forward to growing our business together,” said Ducab managing director Andrew Shaw.

“The new factory in Abu Dhabi is a welcome addition to Ducab’s capacity in the UAE. As market leader we are committed to continual improvement in all aspects of our business and with this new facility we will be able to further improve product offer, service and delivery to our customers,” he said. – TradeArabia News Service
