Family business survival rate high

Manama, February 10, 2008

The survival rate of second generation family businesses is 30 per cent while third and fourth generation family companies account for 15 per cent and 1 per cent to 2 per cent respectively.

Survival chance for 100-year-old companies is only 0.5 per cent, according to a study conducted by western companies, said Family Businesses Society president Khalid Kanoo.

The number of family businesses operating for 70 years in Bahrain is less than 20, Kanoo said.-TradeArabia News Service
