Alumco wins key contract

Alumco has won a contract worth Dh125 million to provide aluminum facades to the The Buildings by Daman project at the Dubai International Financial Centre.

Alumco managing director Samer Barakat said: 'This is a major project that enhances our company's status as a leading provider of premium quality products and world class services.

'Our consistent quest for excellence has enabled us to build a solid portfolio of prestigious projects, which now includes The Buildings by Daman.

'As per the deal entered with the contractor OGER Dubai, Alumco supply contract includes 35,000 square meters of unitized curtain wall, 25,000 stick system for balconies, 2,000 LM of slat systems acting as sun breakers for the office building, 3,600 square meters of corrugated sheet at the spandrel area, 9000 LM of Architectural Aluminum lover that acts as a sun breaker for the residential building, and 11,000 LM of glass balustrade.

'The proposed glass is a very unique type of glass with a 62 per cent light transmission, and is as per Dubai municipality regulation, in regard to shading coefficient and U-value.

Alumco is a specialised aluminum façade contractor and UAE's largest manufacturer.

Mohamad Fakhouri, general manager, Oger Dubai, said:

The Buildings by Daman is a Dh1.6 billion mixed use real estate development project with more than 1.6 million sq ft of built up area.

When complete the luxurious project will consist of premium office space and luxury residential apartments. In addition, the facility includes a 5-star hotel and spa, luxury retail space, and 2,300 conventional and automated parking spaces.

Alumco's engineers and designers have already started on the project and manufacturing and installation will commence within six months, finalizing the whole project by June 2009.

The company's rich portfolio includes major projects in various locations around Dubai.

Alumco has previously completed major prestigious projects that include 15 towers at Burj Dubai Residence located at the Burj Dubai development, the Dubai Police Headquarters, Al Murroj Complex on Sheikh Zayed Road, Shatha Tower in Dubai Media City and 4 towers at the JBR Sector 6 complex.

The company has also done major expansion to its present production capacity of aluminum.
