Empost wins DED contract

Dubai, June 18, 2007

Empost has signed an agreement with Dubai’s Department of Economic Development (DED) to print and deliver all trade licences for the emirate.

Empost is the UAE’s leading integrated courier, cargo and logistics company.

The agreement was signed by Empost CEO Sultan Al Midfa and DED deputy director general for executive affairs at the DED office in the presence of senior officials from both organisations.

Under the new agreement, all online registrations for trade licences, once processed and approved by the DED, will be printed, packed and delivered by Empost to individual customers and organisations at their choice of location for a nominal fee.

The deal comes in the wake of a recent contract bagged by Empost from the Emirates Identity Authority to deliver identity cards to all members who have registered in the Population Register and ID Cards Programs.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Sultan Al Midfa said, "This is yet another feather in our cap and we are extremely happy to be partnering the DED in this venture. This service will be an advantage not only for the DED but also for its customers."

“Dubai's economic boom has been attracting a large number of new businesses and the Government’s decision to use our integrated services, within the various departments, will certainly take a tremendous load off their shoulders and help the departments to focus on their core business. This will also make it very easy for the customers to apply and receive their documents promptly and without unnecessary hassle,” added Al Midfa.

Ali Ibrahim said DED has been providing a number of services that have contributed to the Dubai Government’s vision to develop the different economic sectors.

"Our partnership with Empost is another step to further enhance our commitment to our customers. This tie-up with Empost will enable investors to receive their documents easily without needing to return to the DED,” he added. TradeArabia News Service
