GE, Tatweer to develop Riyadh diagnostics centre
DUBAI, February 7, 2018
GE Healthcare has partnered with Tatweer Medical Co., an investment arm of Tatweer Holding, to develop an advanced diagnostic facility near the Diplomatic Quarter in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The Medical Village project, set to open in 2020, will host seven specialized hospital buildings with more than 900 beds and 33 stand-alone medical centres delivering high quality care across all areas of specialization.
Through an innovative business model led by private investment, GE Healthcare and Medical Village will create a centralized Diagnostic Radiology Center that will serve the entire development, providing sustainable high-quality diagnostics to support Medical Village in achieving clinical excellence. The centre will also provide support to other diagnostic clinics in Riyadh, across the Kingdom and Gulf region, through advanced tele-radiology services.
The agreement was signed by Sheikh Huzam Salama Bin Saidan, CEO of Tatweer Medical, and Jalil Juha, president & CEO, GE Healthcare Saudi Arabia, in the presence of Dr Tawfiq Bin Fawzan Al Rabiah, Saudi Minister of Health, and Dr Rafat Taher, managing director of Healthcare & Life Sciences at Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (Sagia); Adnan Abdullah Al-Olayan, CEO of Medical Village; Kieran Murphy, president & CEO, GE Healthcare; and Maher Abouzeid, president & CEO, GE Healthcare- Eastern Growth Markets, at Arab Health Exhibition & Congress 2018 in Dubai.
