Bahrain dialysis centre work ‘progressing well’

MANAMA, June 4, 2017

The Dialysis Center Project located at Hunainiya in the Southern Governorate, Bahrain, is progressing well and 35 per cent of the work has been completed, said a Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning official.

The project is part of the Health Ministry’s strategic plan, aiming to accommodate citizens’ health needs and requirements and provide a better life to them.

Works Affairs Undersecretary Eng Ahmed Al Khayyat emphasised that the project is progressing as per the schedule determined for the implementation of the project. Presently, work is under way to complete the structure for the main building, the power sub-station, the services building and the external works on site.

Al Khayyat stated that the BD6.085-million project ($16.13 million) is being funded by the Saudi Development Fund as part of the Gulf Development Programme. The project tender was earlier awarded to Aradus Contracting & Maintenance.

The government has allocated a piece of land totalling 21,550 sq m, while the construction area  covers 8,854 sq m. The main building comprises two levels with a capacity to accommodate 60 beds. The ground level contains a reception and registration hall, six external clinics, treatment rooms, labs, a pharmacy, X-Ray department, waiting areas, rooms for the nursing team and a central store, while the first level includes three wings for peritoneal dialysis and blood wash, an isolation wing, a fluid purification station for the fluids used in dialysis and a repair workshop, in addition to the administrative offices and public utilities such as toilets, sub-power station, a guard room and external fence. A parking lot is also provided, with the capacity for 232 vehicles.

The project design also takes into account all the necessary facilitations needed for patients and visitors with special needs, which include the provision of parking spaces and slopes close to all entrances, in addition to providing an elevator close to all entrances and rest rooms that accommodate the needs of the disabled.  – TradeArabia News Service
