Mers case discovered in Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI, April 11, 2017

The Health Authority Abu Dhabi, Haad, has announced a positive case of the Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (Mers-CoV) in Abu Dhabi.

The case is receiving the medical care required, a Wam news agency report quoting Haad said.

Haad confirmed that it is coordinating with the Ministry of Health and Prevention (Mohap) and other relevant governmental entities, and has taken all necessary measures as per standards and recommendations from the World Health Organisation.

To help prevent respiratory illnesses, Mohap has advised the public to wash hands often with soap and water, use hand sanitiser if the former is not readily accessible, cover the nose and mouth with a tissue when coughing or sneezing and throw the tissue into a rubbish receptacle.
