DHA hospitals perform 30,000 surgeries in 2016

Dubai Health Authority (DHA) announced that around 30,000 surgeries were conducted at three of its hospitals - Rashid Hospital, Dubai Hospital, Hatta Hospital and Latifa Hospital - in 2016.
Dr Ahmad Bin Kalban, CEO of Hospital Services Sector at the Dubai Health Authority, said out of the 29,915 surgeries conducted in 2016, 15,163 were minor surgeries and 14,752 were major surgeries.
He said that 10,492 surgeries were conducted in Dubai Hospital, adding that the top five surgeries conducted in Dubai Hospital include ophthalmic (2,129 surgeries), urology (1,918 surgeries), general (1,594 surgeries), obstetric (1,225 surgeries) and E.N.T (1,131 surgeries).
Dr Bin Kalban said in Rashid Hospital 10,501 surgeries were conducted and the top five surgeries conducted in Rashid Hospital include, traumatology (5,870 surgeries), general surgery (2,668 surgeries), neuro surgery (568 surgeries), plastic surgery (508 surgeries) and facio maxillary (306 surgeries).
Meanwhile, in Latifa Hospital 8,077 surgeries were conducted. The top five surgeries included Paediatrics (2,387 surgeries), Gynaecology (2,285 surgeries), Obstetrics (2,072 surgeries), Circumcision (1,330 surgeries) and General (5 surgeries).
In Hatta Hospital, 845 surgeries were conducted and the top surgeries at Hatta Hospital were General Surgery (375 surgeries), Orthopaedic (264 surgeries), Obstetrics and Gynaecology (174 surgeries), Endoscopy (16 surgeries), ENT (7 surgeries).
