Idealmed JV to build 100-bed hospital in Oman

MUSCAT, February 6, 2017

Idealmed Group, a leading player in the global healthcare industry, said its joint venture firm, Al Afia Healthcare Development and Investment Company, is set to start work on a six-storey hospital project in Oman.

Spread over a 10,000-sq-m area, the Idealmed Muscat Hospital will come up in the Ghubra area of the sultanate overlooking the Sultan Qaboos Street, reported the Oman Observer.

Besides the Portuguese group, Al Afia Healthcare Development and Investment Company has Oman Brunei Investment Company and Suhail Bahwan Group as its key partners.

Idealmed Group operates more than 20 healthcare facilities around the world, and has developed the Idealmed Institute in close collaboration with the University of Coimbra, to provide ongoing training to its global facilities.

"The Idealmed Muscat Hospital will offer a warm and nurturing environment with access to local expertise as well as world-renowned physicians and programmes," remarked its CEO Dr Dania Alsammarae.

The hospital's architecture will be a mix of traditional Islamic architecture and Omani heritage with modernity, offering open spaces and special entrances for clinics to ensure the maximum level of privacy for all patients, said the report.

The 100-bed hospital will boast of 43 specialised medical clinics, centres of excellence in ophthalmology, orthopaedics, cardiovascular disease, and mother and child care, it added.
