Dubai Health Authority partners with GE Healthcare

DUBAI, October 17, 2016

The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) with GE Healthcare, collaborating a number of initiatives in DHA’s strategy for 2016-2021, which has 98 initiatives in 15 programmes.

The signing of the MoU took place at the 36th Gitex Technology Week, a major ICT trade fair in Dubai, UAE.

Humaid Al Qatami, chairman of the Board and director-general of the Dubai Health Authority said: “The DHA is keen to leverage GE Healthcare’s expertise in certain fields of healthcare. We will collaborate on a number of healthcare initiatives but the key areas we have shortlisted are predictive analysis, centres of excellence, operational efficiency and continuous training and education. We consider the private sector to be our partner in our race for excellence and we are keen to work with them to achieve sustained growth and development in the health sector.”

Maher Abouzeid, president and CEO for GE Healthcare Eastern Growth Markets, said: “GE Healthcare has a long history of collaboration with the DHA in various fields of healthcare. We are pleased to continue our partnership where we will work hand-in-hand to improve patient experience and enhance quality of care by applying the latest technology and know-how to support DHA to achieve the objectives of their healthcare strategy.”

Predictive analysis at a Dubai-wide level will allow healthcare officials to know the number of vacant beds across hospitals in Dubai, number of patients in the hospitals, such information is vital for crisis management; predictive analysis also includes population health statistics, which is important to device healthcare policies and procedures.

Operational efficiency involves understanding the resources available at a health setting, whether there is a need to increase or decrease those resources and fine-tune functioning of health settings so that they operate at optimal efficiency.

Centres of excellence is a key part of DHA’s strategy as it wants to provide the population of Dubai and visitors alike with specialised and super specialised healthcare. – TradeArabia News Service
