Smokers burn $392m a year in Bahrain

MANAMA, January 25, 2016

Smokers in Bahrain spend approximately BD148 million ($392.8 million) a year, according to a survey. A smoker spends an average of BD2 for two packs of cigarettes daily, while the number of smokers in the country is estimated at 206,000, representing 20 per cent of the population. Smokers are aged between 20 and 64, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.
