A leading doctor has called for organ donation to be made compulsory in Bahrain unless more is done to encourage the practice. Salmaniya Medical Complex Yousif Khalil Almoayyed Nephrology and Renal Transplant Centre unit chief Dr Soumaya Al Ghareeb told the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication, that most Bahrainis were reluctant to donate their organs, even after death – which can lead to long waiting lists for transplants.
