VPS ties up with US paediatric hospital

ABU DHABI, October 11, 2015

VPS Healthcare, a major healthcare group in the UAE and US-based Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) have partnered to establish cooperation in a number of areas in paediatric healthcare.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) sets forth their mutual goals and objectives, as well as establishes a process to continue their discussions related to opportunities for providing a continuum of paediatric care for international patients treated at CHOP and establishing new standards of paediatric care at VPS hospitals and clinics.

The MoU was signed by Dr Shamsheer Vayalil, managing director of VPS Healthcare and Matthew Cook, executive vice president of Strategic Planning and Business Development, at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

“CHOP is very excited about the potential of collaboration with VPS Healthcare and we believe that it will allow us to explore new ways to deliver superior care through more-effective deployment of paediatric sub specialties, something that is very much needed in the region,” said Cook.

“We know and value the efforts of VPS Healthcare in the region and its rich understanding of the market. CHOP’s commitment to paediatric excellence is known the world over and we look forward to developing a long and mutually-beneficial partnership.”

“Keeping in mind the need of specialized paediatric services in the region, it is a wonderful opportunity for us to team up with an organization like CHOP, whose goal has always been to provide children with the highest quality and most advanced care,” said Dr Ali Obaid Al Ali, CEO - Abu Dhabi Hospitals, VPS Healthcare.

LouAnn Westall, vice president for International Strategy and Business Development, at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, said: “We have had several productive meetings and have begun to lay the groundwork for our collaborative efforts. We believe VPS is the perfect partner with whom to deliver the highest quality paediatric care to families in the UAE.”

When asked about the details regarding the MOU, Dr Vayalil said” “It is a great step in the right direction for VPS. We cannot give much details at the moment but I can certainly tell you that the MoU broadly aims at setting up specialized paediatric / maternity hospital in Abu Dhabi, which will include preliminary consultation, visibility studies and expertise from key experts in paediatric sub specialties.” – TradeArabia News Service
