900 delegates attend oncology conference in Abu Dhabi
ABU DHABI, September 11, 2015
More than 900 delegates are attending the integrated healthcare provider VPS Healthcare's third International Oncology Conference under the theme, 'Navigating Cancer care by early detection and prevention.'
The two-day event will concludes today (September 11) at The Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi, Grand Canal, has seen 35 experts from the US, Australia, the UK, Japan, Singapore, Canada, South Korea, Netherlands, Finland, Turkey, Jordan, Egypt, India, Saudi Arabia and the UAE present a range of scientific sessions, said a statement.
During the key note address, Nobel Laureate Dr Marshall, clinical professor of Medicine and Microbiology, University of Western Australia said: “In many countries, eradication of Helicobacter would be the most effective cancer reduction strategy available at this time.”
Dr Shamsheer Vayalil, conference president and managing director, VPS Healthcare, said: “Cancer poses a plethora of challenges - psychological, emotional, social, logistical and financial - to cancer patients and their families. However, recognition of early warning signs tremendously increases a positive outcome and survival rates.
“Such knowledge sharing platforms allow the medical fraternity to keep pace with rapidly growing technology and provide innovative solutions.”
With a multidisciplinary approach, the conference provided an opportunity for all delegates to keep pace with knowledge about clinical pathway, biomarkers, advanced imaging techniques, genomic technology, pharmacogenomics, immune checkpoint inhibitors, smoking cessation, fertility preservation and smart after care in cancer patients, said the statement.
