Bahrain will play a key role in helping research a new drug to replace painkillers in the treatment of sickle cell anaemia, it has emerged. The year-long research programme is set to be launched on Wednesday (September 9) by Arabian Gulf University (AGU), whose researchers will work in concert with specialists from the Health Ministry and Centre for Genetic Blood Diseases at Salmaniya Medical Complex, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.
