Imdaad, WMS to install waste separation system in Dubai

DUBAI, May 20, 2015

Imdaad, a leading provider of integrated facilities management solutions in the GCC, has forged a strategic new partnership with WMS Metal Industries, a local company that specialised in the design and manufacture of environmental products, on the sidelines of the FM Expo 2015, that concluded today (May 20) in Dubai, UAE.

Under the new partnership, Imdaad and WMS will develop and and install of a new waste separation system in the emirate, said a statement.

According to Imdaad senior executives, the new novel recycling initiative, which is the first of its kind in the world, is expected to divert approximately 2,000 tonnes of waste annually from the landfill - thereby resulting in a cleaner and healthier environment.

The installation of the new waste separation system will help consolidate Dubai's leading position in the region's efforts towards waste recycling, which falls in line with Dubai Government's efforts to recycle 75 per cent of municipal solid waste by the year 2020, they said.

Mahmood Rasheed, chief operating officer, Imdaad, said: “We are very proud to announce this new initiative that we are implementing in partnership with WMS Metal Industries. This collaborative effort not only ensures the proper disposal of solid waste but also helps drive in an increased awareness on the importance of recycling—particularly in the move to protect our environment.

“We remain steadfast in our commitment to play a key role in the UAE’s vision to achieve total sustainability and be one of the world’s leading green and smart cities.”

The new system will be installed by WMS Metal Industries and will be retrofitted on the existing garbage chutes installed in the community, said the statement.

It will allow ease of recycling for all tenants, which in turn, will create a supportive ecosystem that encourages recycling.

Meanwhile, Imdaad will launch the awareness campaign along with the collection and recycling of the recyclable waste gathered from the development, it added. - TradeArabia News Service
