DHA inks deal with French oncology institute

The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has signed an five-year agreement with Curie Institute in France to collaborate in the field of oncology.
 
The Curie Institute is a private non-profit foundation operating a research centre on biophysics, cell biology and oncology and a hospital specialised in treatment of cancer.
 
Under the deal, DHA in collaboration with Curie will develop a full-fledged breast cancer centre within Dubai Hospital that will offer end-to-end services from diagnostics, fertility, psychiatry, breast surgery and reconstructive surgery.
 
It will also include consultation with oncologists in Curie Institute and sending some cancer patients on a case-to-case basis to the institute for treatment.
 
Essa Al Maidoor, director-general of DHA, said: “Oncology is an important field of healthcare and through this collaboration we aim to enhance research, information exchange and promote education in the field of oncology. 
 
“This agreement facilitates exchange of faculty and visiting scholars to participate in teaching research and service programs as we believe continuous medical education in this field is important to advance prevention, treatment and early detection of various types of cancers.”
 
Dr Marc Estève, director of the Curie Hospital Group, pointed out that the agreement with promote the advancement of science, technology and human learning through the undertaking of co-operative research, on topics of mutual interest and expertise. - TradeArabia News Service
