Ahmadi launches new bottled water line

Manama, May 9, 2014

Bahrain-based Ahmadi Industries, the official bottler and distributor for PepsiCo in the kingdom, yesterday (May 8) announced the launch of a new production line at a cost of $4 million.

The line is for Aquafina, a brand of purified bottled water products produced by PepsiCo, reported the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

It will have a capacity of 200,000 bottles per day to be distributed across 5,000 retail shops in Bahrain.

The Aquafina bottle, available in 1.5-litre, 600-millilitre and 330-millilitre bottles, is also lighter, environmentally friendly and easier to crush, thus reducing its impact on local landfills.

"The Hydro 7 line for Aquafina will meet the growing demand for bottled water in Bahrain," Ahmadi Industries general manager Ali Ahmadi said.

"The plant is in a highly advanced bottling operation and the water used originates from a natural well certified by the Health Ministry," he added.

"We have a historic and strategic relationship with Ahmadi Industries as the first plant in the Gulf region was launched here," PepsiCo International GCC beverages bottling unit general manager Talal El Khalil said.

"The partnership has enabled us to ensure that Aquafina is produced according to the highest international standards, therefore guaranteeing its purity while maintaining the brand's popular appeal."

"The Aquafina plant will deploy the Hydro 7 purification process, a state-of-the-art purification technology, to ensure world standard pure drinking water," he said.

The Hydro 7 purification process consists of seven integrated stages to remove natural particles and salts. – TradeArabia News Service
