First Mers case in Philippines reported

A Filipino health worker who tested positive for the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (Mers) coronavirus has arrived home from the UAE, Philippine officials said yesterday.
It’s the first known case of the deadly virus in the country, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.
Health Secretary Enrique Ona said blood test results in the UAE were released after the man arrived in the Philippines with his family.
He has been isolated and people who were in contact with him are being traced and quarantined.
Also yesterday, Malaysian authorities confirmed the first Mers virus death in Malaysia. - TradeArabia News Service
