Saudi man loses record weight in 4 months

Riyadh, February 3, 2014

A young Saudi man from Jazan has set a record by losing 320 kg in just four months, said a report.

Khaled Mohsen Al-Shaeri, who was suffering from extreme obesity, has cut down his weight from 610 kg to 290 kg, following a specialised treatment at the King Fahd Medical City (KFMC) in Riyadh, said the Arab News report.

Dr Ayed Al-Qahtani, a consultant, laparoscopic surgery and obesity at KFMC, said Al-Shaeri’s treatment has now reached an advanced stage.

The medical team treating him have reported that his heart and lungs are functioning properly and has considerable improvement in his muscle power and ability to move his legs.

“We have also manufactured a custom-made huge wheelchair for him. This again is a record in that it is the largest medical chair in the world,” Al-Qahtani was quoted as saying.
