Bahrain is set to open a BD2.5 million ($6.6 million) a first-of-its kind hi-tech centre in the region that will offer free health services and treatment for genetic blood disorders, particularly sickle cell anaemia.
The four-storey Genetic Blood Diseases Centre will open next week. The hitech facility will include outpatient wards and clinics, emergency departments, laboratories and an X-ray department, among other facilities.
The centre will also conduct research on diseases and follow up on latest developments in the field of sickle cell disease.
More than 25 doctors, including four consultants, will be recruited in addition to a specialised team to run the centre, reports our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej.-TradeArabia News Service
