UAE-based Smile Dubai Express has introduced a new teeth whitening system for use by the Spa industry.

The new Spa White by White Science meant there was no longer a need to visit the dentist for teeth whitening procedures, a statement said.

“This news comes quickly on the heels of our introduction of the professional whitening range called Artiste in December last year,” said Charlie Taylor, chief executive officer, Smile Express.

Until recently teeth whitening has been out of reach for many people due to the costs involved, said Taylor.

Other considerations have been the inconvenience and hesitation over known side effects of dental whitening products including teeth sensitivity, gum irritation and enamel erosion issues.

“The Smile Dubai Express teeth whitening system promises minimal sensitivity as a result of the reduced treatment duration of just 20 minutes, a unique formula which is PH neutral and the use of light and mouthpiece pressure as the accelerant,” Taylor continued.

The product is based on a disposable and thus hygienic mouthpiece which is pre-loaded with the whitening agent, carbamide peroxide, a statement said.

“The strength of the formula used in the spa version of the technology is not as concentrated as you find at a professional dentist, however it still achieves outstanding results removing stains and achieving two to three shades lighter.  We would still recommend for people looking for more intense results or with problematic teeth and gums to visit their dentist.” Taylor said.

“Most dentists use an acidic based bleaching gel that demineralizes the teeth, creating a caustic enamel condition and when used with UV light will dehydrate the teeth.  This typically results in a whiter ‘look’ after a typical one and a half hour procedure, but within 1-2 days when the moisture and mineral content return to the teeth as the pores close, the sheen fades.”
