Abu Dhabi fund to pay for urgent surgeries
Abu Dhabi, December 29, 2009
Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) will cover the cost of emergency operations for unprivileged people in the UAE, in a move aligned with the Red Crescent Authority’s humanitarian programmes within the UAE.
The initiative reflects ADFD’s commitment to ensuring unprivileged people who suffer medical conditions receive the care and support their need to alleviate their suffering.
"Our commitment to supporting underprivileged segments of the local society falls in line with the corporate social responsibility programmes adopted by ADFD, which are also in line with the fund's policy and activities in supporting the improvement of different societies around the world,” said Mohammed Al Suwaidi, acting director general of ADFD.
“We are delighted to partner with the Red Crescent on this initiative, which will help identify the community needs as we continue to play an active role in facilitating developments. We are always keen to strengthen partnerships with civil society organizations that will ultimately bring about even greater benefit to those that need it,” he added.
Mohamed Khalifa Ahmed Al Qamzi, secretary general of the Red Crescent, stressed the strategic role ADFD plays in supporting humanitarian issues and developing standards of living for underprivileged people around the world, noting that ADFD’s support in this project demonstrates its commitment to addressing such humanitarian situations.
Al Qamzi highlighted that this initiative will contribute to providing the treatment capacity for patients in need of urgent surgical operations and who are unable to pursue a normal life. – TradeArabia News Service
