ACC joins Ajman police on anti-drugs campaign

Ajman, June 25, 2008

The Ajman Police’s drug enforcement section is launching an 'Say no to drugs' campaign for the sixth consecutive year by setting up a booth at Ajman’s most popular shopping destination, Ajman City Centre.

Coinciding with the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the booth will be set-up on Thursday to educate and inform visitors about the dangers of drugs.

Jassim Al Khaja, general manager, Ajman City Centre said, “We are happy that Ajman Police have once again chosen Ajman City Centre for this campaign. According to the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, nearly 200 million people are using illicit drugs worldwide."

"An important step to counteract this problem is to educate people on the ill-effects of using drugs. We play an important role in our community; we receive a lot of residents and through this endeavour hope to achieve a society free of drug abuse,” he added.

Ajman Police will distribute leaflets and brochures with detailed information that advocate "drugs mean your end…never start" during the campaign.-TradeArabia News service
