GEMS rolls out new merit scholarship

DUBAI, April 11, 2018

UAE-based GEMS Education has introduced a new merit-based scholarship programme open to students (Grade 6 / Year 7 and above) within its school network as well as external candidates applying to GEMS for the academic year 2018-2019.

The candidates awarded a scholarship will benefit from a concession ranging from 25-100 per cent off their annual school fees.

Supporting children in their education journey, the programme is designed to reward students excelling in creative and performing arts, academics, Arabic studies, sports and innovation & digital technology. The scholarships will be awarded for a single academic year and awardees will be required to apply for renewal, annually depending on their academic progress.

Dino Varkey, chief executive officer, GEMS Education, said: “One of the driving forces behind our scholarship programme is to ensure avenues for talented children to pursue their preferred career choices. By not limiting the programme to just academics, the scholarship will encourage students to harness their full potential – unlocking the genius within every child.”

The acceptance of applications for Indian schools are between September 1 and January 31 whereas for International schools (British, US and IB curriculum) between January 1 and June 30.

Prior to being considered for any scholarship, all students must first meet the established enrolment eligibility criteria for entry into their school of choice. After careful review of applications, long-listed candidates will undertake the next stage of the assessment on GEMS scholarships procedure. A complete list of criteria is available on the website www.gemseducation.com/scholarships.

Recently, GEMS Education and Singularity University concluded the Global Innovation Challenge which provided a platform to 220 teams, inviting students from around the world to address the world’s most pressing challenges. This involved creating prototypes that could positively impact millions of people using future-focused technologies such as 3D printing, robotics, nanotechnology as well as skills such as data science and coding. – TradeArabia News Service
