DUBAI, May 26, 2017

Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza), the UAE’s flagship trade and logistics hub and Danube Group along with representative of the CDA have opened a classroom at the Jafza south zone to train and develop unskilled workers.

The ceremony took place in the presence of Mohammed Al Muallem, CEO of Jafza and senior vice president & managing director of DP World - UAE Region, CEO of CDA Dr Omar Al Muthanna and Rizwan Sajan, founder and chairman of Danube Group, in the presence of other senior officials. The classroom will be used to deliver free seminar, lectures and a comprehensive curriculum on Basic English, personality development and computer skills.

Sultan Bin Sulayem, Group chairman and CEO of DP World and Chairman of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, said: “As part of our community-wide initiatives, we are delighted to cooperate with the Danube Group to provide quality training to unskilled workers living in Jafza staff accommodation. This will help them improve their quality of life and careers. Our initiative is in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai in the “Year of Giving”, making a difference to people’s lives.”

Rizwan Sajan, founder and chairman of Danube Group said: “We are extremely pleased to have the opening of the first classroom soon after the MoU sighing.  I truly believe this is a great initiative undertaken to help the blue-collar workers learn English and better themselves.  We look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with Jafza and plan on opening many more centres in collaboration with them.”

Earlier this year, Jafza signed a MoU with Danube Welfare Centre post which motivational talks and registrations were conducted to help workers enrol for the classes. In a short span of three-weeks over 1,000 students have been registered and have been assigned the classes.

The Danube Welfare Center was set up in 2012 to make contributions to society and to deliver a positive transformation in the lives of workers in Dubai. It is a non-profit social organisation licensed by the UAE’s Community Development Authority, offering a range of free training courses to help unskilled workers improve their language skills and further develop their careers. The initiative includes a three-month Basic English language programme. – TradeArabia News Service
