ABU DHABI, August 14, 2015
UAE's Traffic and Patrols Directorate, represented by the Public Relations Section, has organised traffic-related educational programmes for children of the Petroleum Institute’s staff members.
The programme, which was held at the institute’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi, is a part of the campaign titled 'A Summer without Accidents,' aimed at reinforcing the traffic culture, said a statement.
Captain Hamdan Hassan bin Thiban, acting chief of the Public Relations Section, stressed the commitment of the Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police to communicate with the public and participate in various community events, so as to promote interaction with partners and the public to achieve the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ’s strategy.
The awareness programme focused on traffic safety, notably the proper safety rules for boarding and exiting buses and the need for pedestrians to cross roads at the designated areas, said the statement.
The programme also featured theoretical and practical activities highlighting the dangers of jumping the red light; the proper ways to cross at signalized intersections; the traffic lights chart and pedestrian symbols; as well as the risks of crossing at non-designated areas. Various traffic-related contests were held as a part of the programme, and prizes were distributed to the winners, it added. - TradeArabia News Service
