Bahrain to host major robotics competition

MANAMA, May 1, 2015

Bahrain is set to host a major international robotics competition later this month.

The fifth edition of the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) Bahrain will feature the participation of more than 100 teams from 30 private and public schools, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

It will be held under the patronage of Supreme Council for Youth and Sport first deputy chairman Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre in Sanabis, on May 20 and May 21.

It is being hosted by AMA International School '“ Bahrain and aims to develop students' scientific skills and teamwork.

It will test students' abilities to solve mathematical problems and motivate them to apply what they have learned in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

The winners of the event will represent Bahrain in the WRO International to be held from November 6 to 8 at Doha, Qatar.
