Orpic to tap local talent for job prospects at fair
MUSCAT, April 16, 2015
Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries Company (Orpic) is set to tap into local talent for employment prospects at an upcoming job fair as lead sponsor.
The Omanisation Career Fair (OCF) 2015 will run from April 20 to 22 at the Oman International Exhibition Centre.
Organised by OITE Trade Fairs and held under the patronage of the Ministry of Manpower, OCF 2015 will strive to accommodate the mounting demand for Omani workers within the Sultanate.
Nofal Al Saidi, general manager - Human Resources Services, said: “Orpic is committed to creating new jobs for Omanis through its various initiatives and programmes. We offer vacancies for fresh graduates, summer internships and student internship training programmes to the Omani youth.
“Additionally, we also scout out international talent who bring expertise to the field and are capable of passing knowledge effectively to our newly appointed local recruits.”
By 2018 all of Orpic’s will be completed which will take its current around 80 per cent rate to over 80 per cent because the company’s workforce will increase to up to 3,000.
To ease future prospects into the workplace, a programme was started in 2012 for trainee graduates. As many as 110 newly graduated Omanis were taken on board and spent up to 18 months training within the company. The number expanded to 346 graduates in 2014.
“We will be focusing on our Trainee Development Programme at OCF 2015. The programme is uniquely designed for trainees to receive the right technical and soft skills to meet the expectations set for them by the organisation,” said Al Saidi.
“As part of Orpic’s manpower requirement for future projects and to create opportunities for young Omanis, we are looking for fresh graduates specifically engineers and technicians to join our family and we invite young graduates to approach our stall at OCF 2015 to discuss their employment options and scope at Orpic.”
The OCF 2015 will be hosted alongside OITE’s Global Higher Education Exhibition (Ghedex). - TradeArabia News Service
