Canadian University of Dubai signs deal with CIMA

Dubai, December 2, 2013

The Canadian University of Dubai (CUD) has signed a deal with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) to provide students with global accreditations in business and finance.

This agreement offers the BBA and MBA students at the university to also pursue CIMA’s global qualification simultaneously and be double-qualified.

Commenting on the MoU, Prof Karim Chelli, the president of the university, said: “Our agreement with CIMA is a step forward in helping our students to succeed in the business world. The CUD degree combined with the knowledge gained from CIMA’s certification in finance and business will prepare them for leadership roles.”

CIMA’s qualification focuses on business performance, management and finance, giving students an advantage to be placed across any business as they are financially qualified and professional trained  in business management, capable of advising on business strategy and risk management.

Geetu Ahuja, head of GCC, CIMA, said: “We are seeing a growing interest from students in the UAE who are keen on building a career in business and finance."

"From an employer’s perspective, there is a strong emphasis on recruiting qualified professionals to fill a number of key management positions in the region. For them a qualification such as that from CIMA is the most relevant as it prepares students to lead and drive business forward on a strategic level,” she added. - TradeArabia News Service
