Govt staff performance review on way

Manama, August 23, 2011

Bahrain’s Civil Services Bureau has asked all government bodies under its purview to start assessment of their employees' performance between September 2010 and August 2011.

Assessment forms will be submitted to the bureau as part of an employee performance management scheme.

Employees assessment and relations director Ahmed Abdulrahim said the direct supervisor will assess employees, adding that rules, regulations and conditions aim at increasing employees' productivity and reduce time spent on routine transactions.

He said the annual evaluation also aimed at preparing a plan to decide on steps to improve performance by determining support employees would need. Evaluation will be classified as excellent, very good, good, satisfactory or poor.

He said the supervisor will rate each employee's performance based on duties, responsibilities and capabilities required for the job to achieve the goals of the department to which the employee belongs.

The assessment is a basic criterion for an employee's training, promotion, incentives, simplification of job procedures and re-classification of jobs to improve performance, he added. – TradeArabia News Service
