BUiD students visit Brimingham University
Dubai, August 9, 2011
The first group of Doctor of Education (Ed. D) students from the British University in Dubai (BUiD) visited the University of Birmingham as part of an interaction programme between the two institutions.
The students were accompanied by Dr Eman Gaad, dean of the faculty of education.
Ed D is offered in association with the University of Birmingham, which is rated a 4-star by RAE rating, reflecting its premier ‘Russell Group’ status.
The students have completed their taught programme and are now progressing within the thesis stage.
The visit offered the students an opportunity to meet their academic advisors at the university in person. They were able to access the university’s library services and facilities first-hand, and gain insight into the university's use of other specialised educational resources.
Dr Eugenie Samier, programme coordinator of Ed D programme, said: "Making contacts with scholars in the University of Birmingham, along with those in other major universities, is part of the maturation of a research doctorate - students need the experience in order to lay a foundation for their later research and professional work, participating in international conferences, joint research, and publications.”
It allows them opportunities to encounter a broad range of perspectives and ideas that are all part of engagement at the international level, he added. –TradeArabia News Service
