Staff performance 'key to success'

Manama, July 21, 2011

On an average, 70 per cent of a company's total inputs consist of non-value-added activities and the success of any organisation is largely due to staff performance, said a report.

"Human resource is the most important factor in the organisation," said Dr Akbar Jaffari, researcher and Bahrain-based Jaffari Consultants (Jafcon) chief operating officer, presenting a paper on productivity to scientists at Cambridge University, England.

"The organisation's productivity cannot improve, unless and until the human resource performance is improved,” he added.

Dr Jaffari referred to another study he had conducted that showed total productivity of manufacturing small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Bahrain totalled only 54.1 per cent.

"What surprised everyone was that nearly half of the resources was untapped. A total of 90.9 per cent of the SMEs were satisfactorily profitable and 93.9 per cent of the owners were contentedly satisfied with their capital investment,” Dr Jaffari said. – TradeArabia News Service
