ADIB interns double to 200 UAE nationals

Abu Dhabi, June 29, 2011

Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (Adib), a top-tier Islamic financial services group, has launched its second edition of the summer internship programme with the enrolment of 200 UAE national students, twice the number enrolled last year.

They will be interns at Adib for the month of July and have been assigned their roles at Adib offices across the UAE. They have also been introduced to Adib and to its products and services suite.

One hundred UAE national students from Abu Dhabi and Al Ain region and 100 from the Northern Emirates were chosen from applicants for hands-on exposure to work life while still at school.

This year, there was intense competition among students to be chosen by Adib and they participated in the selection process in much larger numbers. Adib doubled the number of its interns this year based on the strong response from students.

Adib’s summer internship programme is open to UAE national students between 16 and 21 years of age who are studying in high school or are under-graduate students. Preference is given to secondary school students, a statement said.

“Doubling the number of summer interns at Adib this year is endorsement of the success this program had last year,” said Waheeb Al Khazraji, Adib's head of Human Resources.

“It is part of our commitment to developing UAE national talent and is in line with our other training initiatives. This hands-on, first-person experience for the students also helps the bank. Interns contribute their ideas for improving products and services during their tenure and Adib considers hiring some talented people full-time on completion of education,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
