Top trio to teach at Abu Dhabi soccer school
Abu Dhabi, February 23, 2011
Manchester United Soccer Schools (Muss) in Abu Dhabi has announced that its next ten-week course will teach UAE children how to master the skills required by modern strikers, using three top soccer players as models.
The latest module, which will call upon Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez and Dimitar Berbatov as model examples, kicks off April 9 and will run June 23 at the Dome@Rawdhat.
The “Learn to finish with style, the United way” module will encourage children to display a positive attitude on and off the pitch, build and maintain confidence in their own ability and develop composure in front of the goal.
“This new course is going to help fine tune our players’ techniques and develop their decision making abilities on the pitch,” said Andy Dixon, head coach at Muss.
“Manchester United has always had a proud history of playing exciting and attacking football. We want kids to come on our programs and continue that tradition of trying to score great goals.”
Registration is now open for the April programme which features 12.5 hours of on-field coaching by certified Muss coaches.
The cost of Dh1,650 ($449) includes an exclusive Nike Manchester United training kit of shirt, shorts and socks, Muss drawstring bag, water bottle and skills ball, a statement said.
Youngsters benefit from catch-up sessions and individual player evaluation, and the bonus for footballing parents is that they get a coaching session all of their own, it added.
The development squad programme, an invite only initiative for players who deliver both a consistently high standard of play and closely follow the Muss Code of Conduct, will continue into the latest module.
The squad offers a comprehensive football education with free extra training sessions focusing on the technical, tactical, mental and physical aspects of the game in a team-orientated environment.
Grouped with other players of the same age and ability, each player can test their newly acquired skills in a positive and supportive match play environment.
All players enrolled in the programme in Abu Dhabi will also take part in the Muss series of skills challenges with the top two point scorers receiving an all expenses paid trip to Manchester to represent Abu Dhabi in the World Skills Final at Manchester United’s Carrington training ground as well as the Old Trafford stadium in 2011, according to the statement. – TradeArabia News Service
