Gulf Medical University inks key UAE deal

The UAE Ministry of Health has signed an agreement with Ajman-based Gulf Medical University to boost academic co-operation and also provide clinical training to GMU students at the ministry's hospitals and community health centers.

The pact was signed in the presence of Dr. Hanif Hassan, UAE Minister of Health, Dr Amin Hussain Al Amiri, CEO for Medical Practice & License, UAE Ministry of Health, and university provost Dr Gita Ashok Raj and Prof. Manda Venkataramana, dean of GMC, Ajman .

As per the agreement, the ministry will accredit GMC Hospital, Ajman as a teaching hospital at the earliest, said a top official.

The agreement also permits third, fourth and fifth year students of Gulf Medical University to utilize the teaching facilities at various MoH hospitals.

Moreover the graduates of Gulf Medical University  will have tremendous opportunity after completion of their degree program, to work as 'Interns', in these hospitals.

In this manner they would be getting full exposure to the local healthcare sector and training under the professionals working at various Ministry of Health hospitals.

Dr Hassan lauded the efforts of Gulf Medical University in complimenting the activities of Ministry of Health and said the agreement was only an initial step between ministry and the university that will compliment the requirements and services for mutual benefit.'

Dr Gita said the university was working closely with Ministry of Health to support the ever increasing demands of the local healthcare in the private sector.-TradeArabia News Service
