MBRE launches new Hur initiative
Dubai, December 19, 2009
The Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for SME Development has launched ‘Hur’, an in-house initiative which is aimed at strengthening the means of communication and friendly spirit among the establishment’s employees.
Hur is an ambitious step which reflects the commitment of Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for SME Development to spread knowledge, and enhance communication and team spirit among its employees.
The initiative is named after the falcon ‘Hur’, well known for its sharpness and power. An Arabic name for freedom embodied by the bird’s character, Hur, is one of the main falcons used for hunting in the UAE.
Commenting on the initiative, Rafat Rudwan Wahbeh, chairperson of the Hur Initiative, said: “We are pleased to launch this inclusive, friendly initiative which aims to develop an idyllic work environment for everyone at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for SME Development, because our employees are our most valuable asset as an organization.”
Hur is built around programs that combine entertainment with work to help develop creative skills and stimulate innovative thinking.
The initiative covers a host of activities that enhance communication with the public sector and support community and cultural initiatives.
The program incorporates interactive activities for employees during public festivals and holidays including Eid and National Day, and also features an annual ceremony, traditional contests, and educational seminars, as well as trips to destinations across the UAE.
Hur also aims to make life easier for those working at MBRE – by providing free car parking for all staff for example, Rafat noted.
“Hur is part of the establishment’s strategy to invest in CSR initiatives and help our employees, and our local communities, benefit from our numerous programs. The Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for SME Development enjoys an open relationship with everyone who works with us," he explained.
"Hur is all about our people at MBRE and is focused on inclusion and innovation. We believe that by involving everyone in different activities and events, we can rise to challenges and solve problems more effectively – both at work and in our communities,” Rafat added.
Hur is sponsored by Al Habtour Valtrans, member of the Mohammed Bin Rashed Est. for SME Development Government Procurement Program (GPP), in addition to Al Maidan Property and Real Estate.
Falconry has been a traditional Arab sport for 2,000 years ago and has been passed down through the generations; it depends on patience and partnership between the bird and the falconer.
Besides Rafat, the Hur team comprises Nisreen Safar, vice chair person; Ibtihal Naji, financial affairs; Ahmed Ibrahim, external relations; Yousef Loutah, public relations; and Dr Marouane Trimeche and Yousef Baker, creativity department.-TradeArabia News Service
