Qatar to emerge as research hub with QSTP

Qatar will emerge as a world-class science and technological cluster, with the inauguration of the Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP), believes the head of one of the world’s most powerful energy companies.
Rex W Tillerson, chairman and chief of Exxon Mobil Corporation, hailed Qatar’s emergence as a science and technology hub with the inauguration of QSTP tomorrow (March 16).
Around 1200 guests will witness the inauguration of QSTP in the presence of the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani and Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al Missned, chairperson of Qatar Foundation.
ExxonMobil is among 21 partner organisations working to establish QSTP as a world-class research and development centre.
'We have established ExxonMobil Research Qatar at QSTP to conduct environmental management and LNG safety research that will be applicable to many of the country’s industry leading projects,' said Tillerson.
'We share the Qatar Foundation's objectives to advance science and technology through research and development and we wish to see QSTP realise its potential in becoming a world-class R&D centre.'
'The research that emanates from QSTP and ExxonMobil will become part of the solution to develop economically and environmentally viable energy sources and we are very excited to be part of this new endeavor,' he added.-TradeArabia News Service
