UAE robot olympiad winners announced

Dubai, October 14, 2008

Our Own High School, Al Warqa’a, has won both Regular and Open Categories at the third ‘UAE National Robot Olympiad’ (UNRO), hosted this year by the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC).

The winning teams will represent the UAE at this year’s ‘World Robot Olympiad’ (WRO) to be held in Japan from October 31 to November 2. A total of 61 teams from across the UAE took part in the Olympiad.

“The large number of participants in this year’s ‘UAE National Robotics Olympiad’ reiterates the growing interest of students and schools in the UAE in robotics as well as their appreciation for the highly challenging but enjoyable processes involved in creating robot prototypes,” said Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al-Khaili.

“We at ADEC are actively involved in initiating the inclusion of robotics in schools’ curriculum in order to enhance students’ science and technology skills.”

“Edutech has been a part of the ‘UAE National Robot Olympiad since its initial staging, and we can attest to the success, which the event has witnessed only three years since it was launched,” said ASF Karim, CEO, Edutech Middle East.-TradeArabia News Service
