Dubai Education sets up French varsity
Dubai, November 27, 2007
Dubai Education, a subsidiary of Emirates Investment and Development (Emivest), has set up its second academic institution L’Université Francaise de Dubai (UFD) in Dubai.
It is a part of Lyon Lumière of France. Emivest was founded in 1997 for the provision of credible investment and development services which support regional economic, social and environmental progress, said an official spokesman.
Its impressive portfolio encompasses a wide range of companies who are market leaders in their fields, of which Dubai Education is one.
The new university campus will be located centrally in Dubai and is expected to open its doors to students in the forthcoming academic year.
Université Lumière Lyon 2 already has a Collaboration Agreement with Canadian University of Dubai (CUD), which is the first venture of Dubai Education. Dubai Education was set up to create, develop, foster and manage diverse academic and socio-cultural institutions, and in so doing to enhance and broaden the choices available for study to those who are looking for something hitherto unavailable in the region.
They are justly proud of what has been achieved in a very short space of time at CUD.
As the only Canadian university in Dubai, CUD is providing students with an international educational experience encompassing Canadian perspectives in learning, research and application, whilst appreciating and respecting diverse cultures and UAE values.
CUD aims to provide nationally and internationally recognized qualifications which will enable graduates to pursue employment or further education both locally and abroad.
“This new venture is a great step forward for Dubai Education, and will continue the tradition initiated by Ruler of Dubai Shaikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum of investing in the UAE and the Arab world by bringing Dubai the best that education has to offer,” said chairman of Emivest and university chairman of the CUD Board of Trustees Buti Saeed Al Ghandi.
“It will provide a fantastic opportunity for students to experience innovative programmes which incorporate French culture and values but are also tailored to the needs of individuals and businesses in Dubai, the Gulf region, and the Middle East generally. L’Université Francaise de Dubai (UFD) will add an extra dimension to higher education in Dubai,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
