Bahrain, Germany keen to boost trade ties

A high-level German delegation has shown keen interest in promoting trade and economic relations with Bahrain.

Led by southern state of Baden-Wurttemberg Finance Minister Willi Stachele, the delegation stressed the importance of stepping up business visits to boost trade exchanges between the two countries, welcoming a Bahraini investment delegation to Germany.

Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry chairman Dr Essam Fakro received the German delegation, in the presence of board members, and stressed Bahrain business community's keenness to bolster co-operation.

He called on the private sectors in both Bahrain and Germany to take the lead and exploit investment opportunities.

Dr Fakhro said the BCCI was ready to play a pivotal role in liaising with concerned authorities to curtail the obstacles and impediments that prevent trade and investment exchanges from flourishing.

Stachele highlighted fruitful co-operation with the chamber, stressing the German delegation's keenness to set up joint ventures with Bahraini investors.

The German businessmen held a series of key meetings with their Bahraini counterparts and discussed investment opportunities.

They also spotlighted the investment environment and marketing outlets, in addition to ways of boosting the volume of bilateral exchanges.

The German delegation delivered a presentation detailing investment opportunities at Baden-Wurttemberg.

The delegation from the Black Forest area represents small and medium-size companies, specialised in drilling machinery, construction, office equipment, IT solutions, hospitality and tourism, medical equipment and other key sectors.

The delegation visited Salman Industrial City, where they were received By BIIP project manager Brian Cogen.

Cogen confirmed the effective role that can be played by this city in encouraging private sector and local and foreign investors to invest in the kingdom, particularly with procedures and facilities provided by the government to all investors.

Cogen gave a presentation to the delegation about the advantages of Salman Industrial City launched by His Majesty King Hamad.

He said the three largest industrial projects were Bahrain International Industrial Park, Bahrain Investment Wharf and Hidd Industrial City.

He pointed out the numerous incentives that can be obtained by investors in these areas.-TradeArabia News Service
