EDC sees rise in UAE exports to Qatar

State-owned Dubai Export Development Corporation (EDC) is expecting a growth of the country’s exports to Qatar in the coming months, after its successful participation at Qatar Project 2010.

EDC particularly expects an increase in UAE's export of products and services from the real estate and construction sector, to Qatar.

More than 70 UAE companies in the field of building, construction and real estate exhibited under EDC umbrella.

A forum for UAE and Qatar businessmen was also organised by EDC at the sidelines of the exhibition. The forum witnessed a strong response from Qatari major buyers, including Barwa Real Estate Company and Dolphin Energy. The forum served as an important venue for mutual trade cooperation between businessmen from both countries as well as discussing the government facilities and services provided by EDC.

Saed Al Awadi, chief executive officer, EDC, said that the current building and construction development the Qatar market is witnessing provides potential opportunities to UAE real estate investors. With Dubai’s extensive experience in the property sector, EDC is taking advantage to export industry services to regional markets.

“We aim to open new markets for investors and companies in the UAE and with the real estate and construction industry considered as one of Dubai’s main sectors with its prominent projects recognised worldwide, we would like to assist companies in exporting services and project know-how from this sector,” he explained.

EDC is trying to seek collaboration with regional markets to strengthen exports' share in UAE’s GDP. Qatar is one of the most important target markets for exports from the UAE, he said.-TradeArabia News Service
