Bahrain announces opening of Muharraq Ring Road

MANAMA, 19 hours, 39 minutes ago

Bahrain has announced the opening of the Muharraq Ring Road, one of the kingdom’s largest strategic road projects.

The project is part of the government’s broader plan to improve connectivity between Muharraq and the capital through the upcoming fourth bridge, reported BNA.

The ring road was inaugurated by Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa at a key ceremony organised by the Works Ministry. He was deputised by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

Shaikh Khalid highlighted Bahrain’s ongoing efforts to upgrade infrastructure to keep pace with rapid demographic, economic and urban growth while ensuring safe and sustainable land transport.

These projects aim to improve traffic flow, reduce travel time and support economic and commercial activities, said the report.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasised that the Muharraq Ring Road project aligns with the ongoing development in Muharraq, particularly its northeast, covering investment, tourism, commercial and residential sectors, stated the BNA report.

He later received a briefing on the proposed fourth bridge project, which will improve traffic flow in northern Muharraq and create new access routes, including a sea bridge connecting Al Sayah to Bahrain Bay, it added.
