Bahrain invites bids for 400 new residential units

Bahrain's Ministry of Housing has invited bids from leading builders and developers for the construction of 400 new homes under the Khalifa Town housing development located in the Southern Governorate.

Work is currently under way on the final designs of Phase Two of the project, which involves the construction of 1,604 housing units, said a statement from the ministry.

On completion, the Khalifa Town housing development will boast a total of 6,000 housing units, it added.

"The first stage of the Phase Two of the Khalifa Town development will be ready for bids early next year, while the rest of the 1,204 units will follow shortly," said Engineer Sami Bouhaza’a, the assistant under-secretary for housing projects.

According to him, a total of 1,595 residential units were built under the Phase One of the project. Out of these, 421 homes are located in the Al Na’amiyat neighbourhood with the homeowners ready to move in, he stated.

On the progress of 1,054 housing units in the ‘Al Aleem’ and ‘Al Mahadeer’ neighbourhoods, Bouhaza’a said work was in full swing on these projects with construction almost 97 per cent completed.

This comes in line with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Minister, on the distribution of ready-made units in Khalifa Town and the implementation of the order of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander First Deputy Prime Minister on the distribution of 5,000 housing units, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
