Dubai's key street project on track for 2019 launch
DUBAI, May 27, 2018
Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said around 86 per cent of work has been completed in the first phase of the Improvement of Latifa bint Hamdan and Umm Al-Sheef Streets Project.
The project encompasses the construction of two-level bridges and roads from Umm Al Sheef Street to Al Wasl Street and Shaikh Zayed Road (SZR) and up to Latifa bint Hamdan Street.
The contractor has already completed construction works in all bridges, it stated.
With the work in full swing, Phase One of the project is likely to be completed by the year-end, while Phase Two, which is nearly 60 per cent ready would be delivered in the first quarter of next 2019, it added.
The Improvement of Latifa bint Hamdan and Umm Al-Sheef Streets Project, which also links Jumeirah with Al Khail Road and the Parallel Roads (First Al Khail Road and Al Asayel Street), is being developed at an investment of Dh800 million ($218 million), said a statement from RTA.
Mattar Al Tayer, the director-general and chairman of the board of executive directors of RTA, said once completed, this project would help tackle the growing traffic volumes, and also ease the mobility in various parts of Dubai.
"It also complements RTA’s strategic plan for improving vertical traffic corridors such as the Airport Street, Tripoli Street, Al Yalayes Street and Al Asayel Street," stated Al Tayer.-TradeArabia News Service
